Join UsThe Hidden Ireland was established over twenty years ago by a group of dedicated Historic House owners searching for a way to make their houses self-sustaining. At a time when owners were encouraged to expand and extend, without considering the potential for damaging our heritage, our original members recognised that their houses' 'historic private home' status was an essential ingredient which should not be compromised and wanted to preserve their family homes intact. They believed that it was wrong to add-on to their houses and turn them into hotels, and time has proved them right. Our formula of 'accommodation in historic private houses' has proved a great success. Many customers holiday exclusively in Hidden Ireland houses and return to them year after year. They enjoy our houses; they respect their fabric and contents, and owners who would probably enjoy a high turnover even if they were not HI Members (usually because of a prime location) stay on because "you send us such nice people." And we are more than just an experienced marketing organisation, as we look after our members' interests in a wide range of areas including their now onerous obligations as historic house owners. We have our own dedicated, and very competitive, insurance scheme: we make submissions on our members' behalf in respect of emerging legislation, tourism policy and methods of grant aid, and our voice is heard. If you are the owner of a historic house and would like to share it with others; if you like people, entertaining, food, have high standards and are a good host, this may be an option for you. In that case why not contact us on info@hiddenireland.com |
