Tankardstown House

less than an hour from Dublin, just above the valley of the River Boyne to the west of of Slane, Tankardstown House is sheltered by a tall tree-covered hill and surrounded by its own walled park. The late Georgian cut-stone house has recently been thoroughly restored by Patricia and Brian Conroy and has now been opened to guests.

Inside, there is a fine series of interconnecting reception rooms on the ground floor while upstairs the bedrooms are large and extremely comfortable, with uninterrupted views over the surrounding countryside and splendid large bathrooms.

Outside the park has been restored with new plantings and the vast stable court converted into a series of luxurious self-catering apartments and a fully equipped conference centre.

Nearby are Slane Castle and the Georgian village of Slane, the world famous Neolithic sites at Dowth, Knowth and Newgrange, monastic sites and abbeys at Monasterboice and Melifont along with golf, riding and riverside walks.

Directions:
From Slane village take the Navan Road and approx 1 mile out of the village you will find the gates of Slane Castle; turn right, straight ahead for about half a mile and where the road forks, keep left and stay on this road for about 2 miles, the entrance gates to Tankardstown House on the right hand side.
